This album is the first Revolution Void release that really delves into nu-jazz. I kept the breakbeat sound of previous recordings but added the element of jazz improvisation. My inspiration came in large part from Medeski Martin & Wood, who are to this day one of my favorite bands, and a group that I consider to be highly innovative in the realm of improvised music.
This was also the first album to heavily feature guest musicians. I collaborated with Matthew Garrison (bassist for Herbie Hancock, Chaka Khan) and Seamus Blake (saxophonist who was recorded with Mingus Big Band, Kurt Rosenwinkel), as well as other notable musicians such as Michael Shrieve (Santana) and James Rotondi (Air).
James Rotondi — Bass loops
